Estimating
Whatever your estimating demands, Sage Timberline Office provides
complete software that works the way you want it to.
For a fast, accurate estimating system that's easy
to use, choose between Estimating Standard and Estimating
Extended.
Estimating Standard combines key estimating efficiencies
with all the ease and intuitive point-and-click, drag-and-drop
technology available. The software also serves as
the foundation of our more advanced Estimating Extended.
Estimating Extended offers you our most comprehensive
package of advanced estimating tools. The software
starts with the power of Estimating Standard and adds
even greater takeoff, analysis and productivity capabilities.
WBS
codes
Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) codes let you organize
your estimate a variety of ways. By project phase,
drawing detail, or location such as Floor One or Two.
Simply assign your own WBS code to any estimate item,
either in the database or during takeoff. You can
attach up to 12 WBS codes to each item, which makes
the analysis and reporting possibilities endless.
Crews
Estimating automates crew pricing and gives you the
labor and equipment requirements needed to complete
the job. Crews can be built during database creation
or as needed during takeoff.
Review mode
View, edit, delete or replace takeoff passes that
you record in the Assembly Takeoff screen. This data
can still be manipulated even after the information
is rolled up in summary form in the Estimating spreadsheet
view.
Sequencing
Work with your estimate in any order you choose. Then
change that order in seconds. Estimating Extended
gives you the power to play "what-if." Say
a supplier gives you a special quote: you don't have
to search through your spreadsheet to locate the items
affected. Simply slip your estimate in Bill of Materials
order and instantly group and change all related items.
In-depth analysis
Estimating Extended's advanced reports are powerful
analysis tools. Use the Cost Variance report to quickly
see where costs and quantities have varied between
two similar projects. Or use the Cost Comparison report
to zero in on where unit costs have changed between
your conceptual, interim and final estimates on a
project.
Adjust columns
Making adjustments is a snap using Estimating Standard
and Estimating Extended. You can adjust quantities,
amounts and prices in a whole column or within a portion
of a column at once by multiplying, dividing or adding
an amount; by replacing with an amount; or by spreading
an amount proportionally over your selection. Want
to incorporate lump sums into your estimates? No problem.
Estimating Extended gives you the flexibility to decide
how to handle lump sums when using the Adjust Columns
feature.
Subcontractor Bid Grid
Keeping the bids and quotes you receive from subcontractors
and suppliers organized can be a challenge. Estimating
Extended's Subcontractor Bid Grid provides an easy
way to store, analyze and select subcontractor's name,
bid quantity, unit price, total bid amount and any
notes you wish to include. Then simply "check"
the bid you want to use and the estimate calculates
the item total based on your decision. Change your
mind? Just check the replacement bid and the substitution
is made instantly.
Cuts & Adds Log
Time is everything on bid day. With the Cuts &
Adds Log, making last-minute price adjustments to
your estimate is much simpler. Residing on the Totals
page, the Cuts & Adds Log lets you enter, in one
place, changes that can affect many different areas
of your estimate. You simply enter a description of
the adjustment, whether it's a cut or add, the category
(labor, material, etc.), phase affected or the vendor
involved, and the software generates all the information
to the spreadsheet. It's that simple.
Adjust job totals
Estimating lets you instantly adjust your estimate
total to match a pre-defined job total or cost per
unit. You can even spread the adjustment across all
items of the estimate or selectively choose which
items will shoulder the adjustment.
Metric conversion
Convert your estimate from Imperial units to Metric
units or vice versa. The Sage Timberline Office suite makes it easy for
you to do your takeoff in one system of measurement
and automatically convert to the other system.
